Ofsted report recognises Logistics UK apprenticeship provision

Logistics UK’s apprenticeship provision has been recognised in its latest Ofsted inspection report.

The report, published on 30th June, highlighted the business group’s “expert” tutors, “highly relevant” curriculums and apprentices who are “very well prepared for their jobs and next steps”.

Ofsted found that learners make good progress and are well prepared for future careers, while also recognising Logistics UK’s culture of inclusion, industry expertise and collaboration with employers.

Inspectors said apprentices become “catalysts for improvement and change” within their businesses, and noted the support provided to learners, safeguarding arrangements and training aligned with the needs of the transport and logistics sector.

Annie Graham, head of apprenticeships at Logistics UK, said: “Our approach to teaching ensures that apprentices are well prepared to develop their careers, and we actively work with employers to make sure that apprentices have the opportunities to apply what they learn on our apprenticeships at work. The Ofsted inspection report reflects the quality of our courses as well as the dedication of our tutors and the apprentices themselves.”

Logistics UK currently offers 4 apprenticeships: Level 2 Transport Coordinator, Level 3 Heavy Service and Maintenance Technician, Level 3 Transport Supervisor and Level 5 Operations Manager. It is also preparing to launch ILM Level 5 Principles of Leadership and Management.

The business group said learning is delivered through online training sessions, one-to-one coaching and resources designed to support accessibility, allowing apprentices to study from across the country and around existing commitments.

Graham concluded: “We take pride in the logistics apprenticeships we provide, and this inspection report from Ofsted backs that. It is testament to all the hard work apprentices, tutors and employers put in, ensuring that the next generation of logistics professionals is well-equipped to enter the workplace.”
