DAF has expanded its battery-electric truck range with the launch of the XG and XG+ Electric, bringing its largest and most spacious cab designs into the zero-emission sector.

The new models build on the technology used in the XD and XF Electric, which were named International Truck of the Year 2026, and share the same electric drivetrain architecture, LFP battery technology and focus on driver comfort. With the addition of the XG and XG+ Electric, DAF says it can now offer a fully electric solution across urban, regional and long-haul applications.

The XG and XG+ Electric sit at the top of DAF’s electric range and are aimed at operators requiring maximum range and driver comfort. Their cabs are 33cm longer than the XF and, combined with increased height, deliver a total interior volume of 12.5m³ and standing height of up to 2.2 metres. The sleeping area features an 80cm-wide bed along its full length, positioning the XG and XG+ as the most spacious electric truck cabs currently available.

Both models are powered by the PACCAR EX-D2 electric motor, delivering outputs from 270kW to 350kW and torque of 2,400Nm. The powertrain combines two electric motors with a three-speed integrated transmission, designed to deliver smooth performance and reduced driver fatigue over long distances.

Battery capacity is modular, with operators able to specify between three and five LFP battery packs depending on application. With five packs installed, the XG and XG+ Electric can achieve a range of more than 500km on a single charge. DAF says that with planned charging, daily distances of over 1,000km are achievable, supporting international operations. A three-pack configuration can be charged from 10% to 80% in just over 45 minutes.

As with the rest of its electric line-up, DAF is using cobalt- and nickel-free LFP batteries, supplied with an eight-year warranty. The batteries can be charged to 100% daily without impacting durability and offer high thermal stability. Aerodynamic efficiency is supported by the cab’s tapered design, curved windscreen, side skirts and the use of digital cameras in place of traditional mirrors.

The XG and XG+ Electric are supported by a full ecosystem of services, including charging infrastructure and energy storage from PACCAR Power Solutions, maintenance packages via DAF MultiSupport, online fleet management through PACCAR Connect and financing options from PACCAR Financial. Both models are available as a 4×2 tractor unit or a 6×2 rigid with a steered trailing axle.
