BAKO Western has completed its three-year fleet modernisation initiative with the delivery of its final rigid truck, fitted with a Carrier Transicold Supra 1150 Multi-Temperature unit.

The move marks the full integration of Carrier’s Lynx Fleet technology across all 20 of its temperature-controlled vehicles, providing advanced visibility, compliance and efficiency for its delivery operations.

As the first UK adopter of Lynx Fleet in 2022, the company has now replaced its final 18-tonne rigid with an Iveco Eurocargo Supra-mounted truck, finalising the transition to the digital platform.

Mark Curtis, transport manager at BAKO Western, said: “Lynx Fleet has truly transformed how we work.
“It’s far more advanced than our previous basic telematics platform, and you can tell it’s been designed with the practicalities of logistics work in mind.

“The fact that we can access in-depth breakdowns of temperatures, door-openings, engine operation and more, in real-time, is invaluable.”

The Lynx Fleet system allows BAKO Western to automate key processes and remotely manage each Carrier unit, including set point control, running mode changes and defrost instructions. Historic data can also be reviewed to support compliance and strengthen customer confidence.

Curtis added: “With the ability to also look back at historic data, Lynx Fleet has given us a level of confidence in our operation that really sets us apart, helping to prove to our customers that we’re serious about protecting everything we deliver.”

Sean Griffiths, key accounts manager at Carrier Transicold UK, said: “We’re delighted that BAKO Western continues to see Lynx Fleet’s value and impact.

“The company has proven to be an ideal use case for the platform, clearly demonstrating the real-world opportunities of embracing vehicle connectivity in the temperature-controlled sector.”

BAKO Western, based in Cullompton, Devon, delivers up to 100 tonnes of baking supplies daily across the South West, covering chilled, frozen and ambient products.
