Renault Trucks ends 2024 with rising market share and electric momentum
Renault Trucks has grown its share in the >16t segment across Europe to 9.1% and captured nearly a quarter of the electric heavy-duty market, despite a subdued economic backdrop.
Renault Trucks has closed 2024 with a solid commercial performance, increasing its market share in the >16-tonne segment across the EU30 to 9.1%, up nearly one percentage point year-on-year. In France, the manufacturer secured a 29.7% share in the same segment, cementing its domestic leadership despite a slowdown in freight and construction activity.
Bruno Blin, president of Renault Trucks, said: “Renault Trucks closes 2024 with strong performance, resolutely continuing its transformation towards sustainable transport. We continue to invest in supporting our customers in their energy transition while consolidating our positions in our strategic markets.”
The company delivered 56,898 vehicles globally in 2024, including 36,749 medium and heavy-duty units and 20,149 light commercial vehicles. Of these, 1,628 were electric – comprising 1,003 medium and heavy-duty electric trucks and 625 light commercial EVs.
Electric vehicle growth was particularly strong, with Renault Trucks capturing 24.2% of the >16t electric truck segment by the end of 2024. The manufacturer’s market penetration in this category reached 4.6% in H2 2024, compared to a sector average of just 1.5%.
Strong gains were recorded in the UK, Spain, Portugal, Romania and Lithuania. Renault Trucks also reinforced its presence internationally, expanding its position in Turkey and maintaining its foothold in Africa and the Middle East. It renewed its role as official truck supplier to the United Nations for another three years, with an optional two-year extension.
Used truck sales also rose sharply, with 7,127 units sold – up 21% year-on-year – including the first second-hand electric trucks. The company also obtained homologation for its first electric-retrofitted model, supporting its circular economy ambitions.
Renault Trucks now offers Europe’s widest fully electric line-up, from e-cargo bikes to 50-tonne trucks. A further uptick is expected in 2025, supported by over 2,000 new electric orders in 2024 – a 36% increase. Key launches this year will include a long-range electric tractor unit with up to 600km range and new Flexis light commercial vehicles.
The company has also begun decarbonising its own logistics network, using electric trucks for inter-factory transport between Saint-Priest and Bourg-en-Bresse, with a target of 100% electrification by 2030.
