Vicovanu Transport has expanded its Krone trailer fleet with the purchase of 15 new Box Liner FS10 sliding chassis trailers, while accelerating the rollout of telematics technology across its container operation.

The latest investment takes the Thurrock-based operator’s Krone fleet to around 109 trailers, with 70 now equipped with the full Krone Telematics package.

The company plans to retrofit the remaining trailers as it works towards a fully connected fleet.

Founded in 2013, Vicovanu Transport specialises in container transport and multimodal logistics, providing road haulage, rail, ocean and air freight services from its Essex base.

Sergiu Vicovanu, managing director of Vicovanu Transport, said: “The continued growth of our business means we need equipment that we can depend on every day.

“The Krone Box Liner has consistently delivered the reliability, flexibility and durability we require for intensive container operations, which is why we continue to invest in more Krone equipment as our fleet grows.

“The relationship we have developed with Krone has been extremely positive.

“Their understanding of our operation and their ability to provide solutions that meet the demands of modern container transport gives us the confidence to continue expanding with their products.”

The Box Liner FS10 has been developed for container transport and is capable of carrying 40ft, 45ft, twin 20ft and 30ft containers.

The trailers feature double T-longitudinal beams, welded cross members, extendable underrun protection and a 10-year rust-through warranty.

Krone Telematics provides real-time trailer location, operating status and technical data, including mileage, braking system status, coupling information and diagnostics, enabling operators to improve asset utilisation, maintenance planning and fleet availability.

Each trailer is also equipped with Krone Smart Tyre Monitoring, which monitors tyre pressure and temperature in real time to improve safety and support preventative maintenance.

Vicovanu said the telematics rollout will provide greater operational visibility and support proactive fleet management as the business continues to expand.

Sergiu Vicovanu added: “The move towards a fully connected Krone fleet represents another important step in our development.

“Having greater visibility of our assets and their condition helps us operate more efficiently and continue providing the high levels of service our customers expect.
